Starring on the Big Screen


Julia Roberts created a surge of popularity for the Claddagh ring when she was spotted wearing one back in 1995. Liam Neeson has regularly worn one, as have Jennifer Aniston, Gabriel Byrne and Mia Farrow. The Walt Disney statue at Disneyland also depicts him wearing a Claddagh ring!

Spotted on the Small Screen

Fans of one of the most popular TV series ever, Friends, will also recognize the Claddagh that is featured outside the apartment of Joey and Rachel in the episode 'The One with Rachel's Book'. The cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer saw another surge in the sales of the Claddagh when Angel presented Buffy with a Claddagh ring for her 17th birthday to show that they were joined forever. X-Factor presenter Dermot O'Leary always carries one gifted to him by his mother and has stated that it shows that he's 'proud to be Irish'.

The Ring of Royalty


The Claddagh has always been recognized by royalty and is the only ring made in Ireland that has been worn by Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George V and Queen Alexandra. A Claddagh design brooch and cufflinks made from Connemara marble were presented to Princess Grace and Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1962.

The Mark of Musicians

U2's Bono has often been spotted wearing a Claddagh ring. Musicians Liam and Noel Gallagher, formerly of iconic band Oasis have also been seen wearing the Claddagh. Fans of Doors front man and Claddagh wearer Jim Morrison have often purchased Claddagh rings to emulate him and Bing Crosby also declared it as his favorite.
