Irish Wedding Trends for 2019

When it comes to weddings in Ireland in 2019, what’s trending?

From statement jewelry and headpieces to the re-emergence of dried flowers and new-look wedding dresses, here’s a look at what to expect at some of the most beautiful Irish weddings of the year.

Wedding Tiara

Statement Headpieces and Jewelry

The ‘Meghan effect’ has infiltrated weddings worldwide and due to her influence, statement headpieces and tiaras have made a comeback and are big for 2019. The trend sees the headpiece combined with the traditional veil or completely stand-alone. Baroque-style embellished crowns are also particularly on trend this year and look fabulous when photographed. Feathers are even making a reappearance. Another theme emerging is to match jewelry to the headpieces and in addition to the wedding and engagement ring, brides are choosing to wear a stand out ring on the other hand to bring more sparkle to the overall look. Rings such as the Celtic Halo Silver Ring or the Celtic Heart and Trinity Knot Ring are a beautiful addition.

Dried Flowers are Trending
The use of dried flowers is being spotted at more and more weddings over the past few months and is trending worldwide as well as in Ireland. This ties in with the trend of sustainability and more responsible living, which is following through in to weddings. Some florists are combining dried with fresh flowers and others are going with fully dried flowers in both bouquets and decor. Dried flowers work for either vintage or modern weddings and brides and grooms are now requesting Irish native flowers to be included in their bouquets as a nod to heritage or building in Celtic motifs in the ribbons.

Wedding Dresses – With a Twist
Who knew but jumpsuits are making an appearance now at the most stylish weddings in Ireland – and not just on the guests but worn by the bride. This unique look is a great alternative wedding style and if chosen carefully, a flowing jumpsuit can be an absolutely stunning new take on the wedding dress. Another trend coming through internationally and in Irish weddings is the idea of a detachable skirt, which can come off later in the day to reveal an entirely new look for the dancing!

Ceremonies in the Round
More and more couples are opting for a ceremony in the round and moving away from the idea of a ‘top table’. Couples are revolutionizing the seating arrangements and placing the activity in the center of the crowd so that it lends itself to a much more inclusive feel with an immediate chance for guests to mingle and communicate more easily. It also enables the couple to see their guests more easily and the event to flow in a more natural way. These ceremonies ‘in the round’ are proving popular at weddings across the world. It’s not well-known but it’s somewhat of a revival as the drawing of the ‘circle’ is a very old Celtic wedding tradition.

Why not consider some of these trends if you are planning a 2019 wedding?
