An Irish national treasure, the Ardagh Chalice is the best preserved and finest example of 8th century metal art work and is on permanent display at the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin. It was discovered accidentally in Ardagh, County Limerick in 1868 as part of a larger hoard of Celtic metal works.
